Blackstar Product Recall

PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL

Thank you for your continued support of Blackstar and our products. Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers.

During routine quality checks, we have identified a problem with specific date codes of production of the Debut 100R Combo models listed below.

Affected Products:

  • Debut 100R 112 Combo Cream (Model: 273101-VA)
  • Debut 100R 112 Combo Black (Model: 273101-VB)
  • Debut 100R 212 Combo Cream (Model: 273102-VA)
  • Debut 100R 212 Combo Black (Model: 273102-VB)

Due to cabinet production errors, a larger than intended gap between wooden parts of the cabinet can cause some electronic components to be accessible or partially exposed. As a result, in some circumstances a user could come into contact with safety critical internal chassis components. This poses a risk of serious electric shock.

As a result, given the circumstances and our commitment to absolute safety, we have taken the decision to immediately stop the use of these affected products and instigate a product recall for modification.

How to Determine if your Product is Affected

1: Locate the serial number of your product.

This can be found on a sticker at the rear of your product, affixed to the inside of the bottom of the cabinet. The serial number is a white barcode at the top-right of the sticker.

2: Determine the Date Code of your product.

Your serial number begins after the (21) with three letters. The next four numbers after these letters are the Date Code of your product, as shown below.

If the Date Code matches one of the following numbers, your product is affected by this Product Safety Recall.

Affected Date Codes:

  • 2403
  • 2404
  • 2405
  • 2406
  • 2407
  • 2408
  • 2409
  • 2410
  • 2411

No other Date Codes of the Debut 100R Combos, or any other Blackstar products are affected.

3: Check for a rework sticker.

If your amplifier was made during the date range shown above, it is likely that it has been reworked to make it safe. To check, turn the amplifier upside down to view the underside of the ‘chassis’ of the unit. If the amplifier has been reworked, there should be a small green sticker saying “QC PASS 273-CP”.

If your unit is from the affected date range and does not have the green sticker inside it, please unplug the power cable and contact Blackstar immediately.

What To Do if your Product is Affected

If you have an affected product listed above with a Date Code in the affected range, please stop using it immediately and physically disconnect the power cable to ensure your safety.

Please follow the link below to contact your local Blackstar distributor to arrange for a free modification to your amplifier. In your communication, please include the full serial number and Model of your product.
