Blending CabRig with Other Speakers

Blending CabRig with Other Speakers

One of the great things you can do with the AMPED products is create a hybrid rig for both live and studio situations. This allows you to run a real cab and also run a separate output with CabRig running.

This is especially useful for live use because you can pan the signals hard left and right and create a big, wide guitar sound that can sound slightly doubletracked.

In the studio this give you lots of options for both tones and takes, you might choose to blend one take of one signal with another take from another signal.

Setting Up for This Approach

To get your AMPED set up for this method you will need to connect the XLR output to your audio interface or mixing desk, this is your CabRig signal.

Using a speaker cable, you will need to connect the speaker out to your cabinet, or alternate IR loader. The AMPED will send signal out of both outputs at the same time. The CabRig output will already have the CabRig emulation applied and the speaker output will have no speaker processing at all.

CabRig

Your CabRig signal will run out of the XLR output on the AMPED. In the video you will hear an emulation of a 2×12 cab with a 421 Dynamic Mic.

Real Cab or Alternate IR Loader

Using the speaker output you will connect the unit to a speaker cab or an alternate  IR loader. In the video you are hearing a second IR of another 2×12 cab in a different sounding medium room with a different style of microphone. This is to show the differences between each before blending them together.
