Series One Features
Channel selection on all Series One amplifiers can be controlled via MIDI Program Change messages, in addition to the supplied footcontroller.
The Series One can be placed in a MIDI chain allowing you to simultaneously select a channel on the amplifier and change the patch on a MIDI effects processor connected to the effects loop. There are 128 available Program Changes, giving you the possibility to access 128 effects / channel select combinations.
Series Effects Loop
The Series One amps feature an effects loop to allow you to connect effects pedals or other professional equipment using the return and send connections. The Effects Loop Level switch sets the effects loop to either +4dBV/-10dBV, which enables you to use it with either professional equipment (+4dBV setting), or with guitar level effects such as effects pedals (-10dBV setting).
(S1-45,50 & 100) - The 4 button footswitch allows you to change between both channels and all 4 modes. The button layout is Bright Clean, Warm Clean, Crunch and Super Crunch. The footswitches are manufactured out of aluminium and steel which protects the circuit inside from the rigours of the road. There is zero latency with our footswitches and they also feature silent switching. All in all, this means that you can change your tone during a set, instantly and silently with the piece of mind that it’s not going to let you down.
(S1-104’s, 200) - The 4 button footswitch allows you to change between all 4 channels. The button layout is Clean, Crunch, OD 1, OD 2. The footswitches are manufactured out of aluminium and steel which protects the circuit inside from the rigours of the road. There is zero latency with our footswitches and they also feature silent switching. The D-Type cables used in our footswitches are not attached to the footswitch itself which makes it easier for transporting and also means that if the cable does break, a new footswitch isn’t required.
Speaker Emulated Output
All Series One amplifiers have a state-of-the-art speaker emulator with balanced and unbalanced outputs available via an XLR and standard jack connector.
The Blackstar speaker emulator is a complex multi-stage filter which takes the pre-amplifier signal and introduces the key characteristics of a valve power amp, guitar loudspeaker and cabinet.
The parameters reproduced are:
1. The electronic effect of power amplifier resonance.
2. The electronic effect of power amplifier presence.
3. The acoustic fundamental resonance effects of a loudspeaker in a cabinet.
4. The high-frequency roll off of a loudspeaker in a cabinet.
5. The high frequency effects of the loudspeaker dust cap.
During the design process, following the in-depth mathematical analysis of the behaviour of guitar loudspeakers in various open and closed back cabinets, the final voicing was done by A/Bing the emulated output through studio monitoring against a Series One amplifier driving a Blackstar S1-412A cabinet loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s.
Dual Speaker Outputs
The dual speaker outputs on the rear of our Series One heads have an impedance selector which allows you to use 4, 8 or 16 ohm cabinets with the head. This can be extremely useful if you are turning up to a venue with just your head, not knowing what cabinet you will be going into and it is also very useful in the studio if you are experimenting with different amp/speaker combinations. The dual outputs also allow you to run two cabinets allowing you to live your dream of having a full stack.
All Series One amplifiers have plated through double sided PCBs for the increased mechanical integrity this construction affords. Designed to last a lifetime, Series One cabinets have a 18mm finger-jointed birch ply cabinet and heavy gauge wiring. The chassis, for mechanical integrity, are seam welded 1.6mm steel.
