Hi all,

Just wanted a bit of expert advice/thoughts...

I want a cab/head combination.

I want a cab that will last forever
I am considering a solid state amp (but might buy a valve amp later)

Is there any reason not to buy the combination - Artisan 2x12 cab with a ID60 head?

Thanks :)

Craig

The Artisan 2x12 cab is not the ideal cab to use with the ID amps.
The ID amps being digital are designed for a 4ohm load. Look for a cab that has 2ea. 8 ohm speakers with a 4ohm jack.
The Artisan is set up with 16ohm speakers and wired for 8ohms. Good for most tube amps, but not ideal for a digital amp.

Oh dilemma....

Thought that might be the case. I want a good cab that will not need replacing.
Good cabs are usually 2 x 16 in parallel = 8 ohms (correct me if I am wrong).

I take it id60 head would work, but would just be quieter...

Might just buy a combo id260 for the moment :(

There's no shortage of 2x12 cabs with 2ea 8ohm speakers, wired for 16 ohm and 4ohm. :D
Zilla cabs if your in the UK, or Avatar in the U.S. is a good place to start looking.....
You can always swap speakers in a cab too, to get what you want.

It will sounds amazing with that Artisan cab. The IDs will take any ohm just much have a slight power drop if you go with a 16ohm cab. I have v30/super65 mix in my 260 combo so I know the v30s sound great with the IDs. Good luck!
