Who wants to share their closest Marshall tone settings? I won't say slash tones.....lol....

I have eyes and ears on the new Marshall dsl40.....just want to do a comparison and see if its worth buying the new Marshall. I love my blackstar, but love love love Marshall's too!

Od2: gain 9 o' clock
volume full
bass 1 o' clock
middle 10 o' clock
treble 1 o' clock
ISF full to the right
resonance full
presence 12 o' clock
master 8- whatever needed

I'm not pleased with od1, seems it needs a lot of gain to not sound muffled! I' ve spent quite some time trying to get a good sound, now I'm only about half way there. Actually I'm thinking of getting a Marshall too, wish I hadn't sold my -74. When I have the money, I'll probably buy a 2061x or JTM45 RI, the Blackstar sounds just about okay, but I miss that plexi tone!

You might want to try adding an EQ in the loop, if you haven't already. Did wonders for my HT-20.

I have tried eq in the loop, doesn't work for me, the Blackstar lacks dynamics and that "bounce" old Marshalls have, the blackstar sounds hard in the wrong places and soft in the wrong places, if that makes any sense!
It's a very smart amp with three channels and all, but I don't know, guess it just doesn't sound right to me!

Yeah, probably! I converted my old 1986,(I believe it was, 50W bass head), Marshall to class A with Ruby Tone Bones, guess it's the touch sensitiviness and dynamics I miss with those EL84s! We'll see, I'll do a rehearsal soon with a cover band, hard rock and metal, maybe the Blackstar sounds and feels great with a full band!
I'm a bit concerned with reliability though, my BS "eats" tubes, I've changed power tubes once, and preamp tubes 3 or 4 times in 18 months! :o

If you love the Marshall tone I would get a Marshall. Ive owned the ht 60 but certainly could nt what could be described as a decent Marshall tone out of it.

Well, I've found recently that the HT60 sounds and above all, plays better if I, (no surprise really!), turn up the master volume to about half, much more dynamic amp when the power amp is working harder! Still very confused by all those nobs to turn and all those buttons to push!

yeah OD1 sounded like a Nerf amp. I'm getting close with OD2 though.
