Hi, new forum member here.

I hope someone may be able to assist with a question regarding looper pedals.

I run a Gretsch g5420t through a Blackstar id30tvp. A bit of slapback and reverb is perfect. Great combination and very happy. I am thinking of getting a looper and was wondering. If I feed this into the front end of the amp will the on board effects still be picked up by the pedal? I would naturally think that the effects need to be before the looper.

Anyone with any experience in this? All thoughts appreciated.
Cheers in advance.
J.

You're right. The effects should be before the pedal so that you can modify the effects for the different layers of loops, otherwise, if it's after the looper, all loops and layers will be modulated the same way.

I don't know anything about the id30tvp, but does it have an effects loop capability? If it does, you should put the looper between the Send and Return of that. What I do is have an effects pedal running to a looper into a clean amp.
