Re: Cabinet Compatibility

Yes. The minimum load on the ID:100 is 4 ohms. The HTV-212 runs at 8 ohms in mono and 16 ohms in stereo...both of which are above that minimum.

Re: HT 60 blowing fuses

Does it blow as soon as you turn it on, or does it take some time before it blows? Typically, a bad output tube will blow the HT fuse(s), not the mains fuse. However, it is still possible. The best way to determine if it's the tubes is to put a known good set in (make sure the amp gets properly bias...

Re: HT-5H w/ Cabinet vs HT5 Combo

Yes. It will sound great though dual 1x12" cabs. I specifically run mine through a 2x12" cab, but I've also run it through a 4x12" cab with great results.

Re: LOUD POP noise when switching between channels/voices

Switching channels is mechanical...there is a physical switch that's thrown. Regardless of how quiet a switch is, it will make noise. However, that noise should be barely audible. So, that means it's either a bad switch or a coupling issue which is causing an normally inaudible pop to be amplified b...

Re: HT-5H w/ Cabinet vs HT5 Combo

I routinely run my HT5 through a 2x12 cab and it sounds great. Another option is the HT-408 cab. It has 4 - 8" speakers in it and, when you mic it up, you cannot tell the difference between it and 100w of full stack power. The issue is that it's designed for the HT-1 head. While it can easily handle...

Re: Yet another valve question

Watford valves has a very good reputation. So you will most likely not go wrong with that kit. Every JAN tube I have tried has sounded good. They were tubes made specifically for military applications, so they had very stringent QC standards. The only "issue" I have is the Harma ECC83 (I put emphasi...

Re: Ht club 40 goes silent on OD channel

Check the OD volume pot, it should have a similar resistance sweep to the clean channel volume pot. Look for anything that seems loose...like a bad ground. Blackstar does not release schematics outside of their service centers. So aside from the above, the only way to troubleshoot is to reverse engi...

Re: HT-5H w/ Cabinet vs HT5 Combo

I personally prefer heads and cabs. Yes, it will cost a little more than a combo will, but they give me more options. I can use different heads with different cabs, giving me different tones. In addition, if I know there is a working cab onsite all I need to do is bring a head. While the mini stack ...

Re: Ht club 40 goes silent on OD channel

Since the clean channel works fine, its definitely something in the preamp. How did you check the tubes? If you haven't done so, swap the preamp tubes. If the problem moves to the clean channel, replace them. You'd really need a signal generator and O-scope to properly troubleshoot it. Anything else...

Re: Preamp tube question

Generally speaking yes. However, since you are looking at Genelex (and if your budget can afford it) try the Gold Lion B759/12AX7. IMHO, there is not a better sounding 12AX7 currently being manufactured. The only way to do better is to go NOS. If you run it on the clean channel and keep it pristine,...
