Re: HT1R Tube Life

All valid points you have made here! Next tube order, I will order 2 or 3 12AU7 tubes, just to test my theory. The HT5 uses a different power tube, but it would be interesting to know what Blackstar's thought process is when it comes to designing both amps. If great tone is paramount with the design...

Re: What do I have? HT-1SE?

Look on the MyLesPaulmforum "squawk box". There is a discussion on the $99.00 version. If you are disappointed, return it for the HT1R either head or combo.

I have a combo version with the 8" speaker and the features I think you want. Very good practice and recording amp.

Re: HT1R Tube Life

Thanks for the input....all good info. I have read your other posts across theses forums. I'm guessing the average owner of the HT1 species does not get involved or too concerned with correct bias. I can say the past four months or so, my HT1R has been played frequently as a practice and not as a gi...

Re: HT1R Tube Life

When I replaced both tubes in my HT1R, I looked around for any sign of a bias adjustment method, but could
not see any. I thought that this was cathode bias type of amp with not adjustments necessary?

HT1R Tube Life

I know some folks like to change tubes in their amps about on a yearly basis, especially if they are working musicians. Reliability is paramount with that type of player. I play mostly as a hobby and with my HT1R combo, now 2 1/2 years old, I notice after about 4 months that my sound starts to lose ...

Re: New Speaker & Tubes

You're correct about the Tung-Sol 12AX7 being bright. It works out well with the replacement Celestion Eight Fifteen speaker That I now have in my combo HT1R. As a side note, which of those two tubes (ECC82 ECC83) would you expect to have the shorter life span? Power tube or pre-amp tube? The last s...

Re: HT-1: oversensitive gain control?

I have the reverb combo model and yes, the gain control does not do much until about the 12:00 to,1:00 o'clock position. The gain pot according to an email I received from Blackstar is of a graphic type. That means it acts like a reverse audio taper pot for the first 50% of its sweep and regular aud...

Re: HT1R Potentiometer Sources

I found out from Korg that Parts Is Parts in Vermont (I believe) carries them. They have a website, but you can also call them @ 1 800 590-0014. The part ID for both volume and gain are: volume is B10K (audio log taper). The gain pot is G220K. That one Is a graphic taper. They shipped quickly and I ...

Re: HT-1 Tube Replacement

To get at the tubes in the HT1R combo I remove the screws holding the back on to the combo. Then I loosen the two rear handles screws until the chasis can be gently lifted out and rested on the back's edges. Be gentle when removing either or both of the tubes. Turn the retainer clips down and gently...

Re: HT1R Sounding and Looking Incredible!

Very handsome amp work! I have the Eight Fifteen speaker also, but I found the increase in volume more than I need for my practice area. Does your speaker swap change the sound? Do you have the same range with the amp controls as with the stock speaker?
