Best thing I have done for my tone - HT20 + BBE maxcom

Well actually its probably the sum of all the upgrades, but today I believe I have finally dialed in my sound... Its like someone lifted a blanket off my HT-20 amp!! no kiddin its pretty gigantic improvement. I picked up a BBE maxcom which is a 2 channel compressor/limiter/gate with sonic maximizer ...

Re: Blackstar HT-20 Gain, not enough?

Thought I would chime in here since I seem to have formed some opinions on the gear being discussed.. I have owned a Line6 Spyder II head with 4x12 cab for about 6 years. - this amp has probably the worst cleans I have ever heard, all the modeled sounds (tremolo, chorus, delay) are totally useless. ...

Re: Ht-20 vs Ht-5 listening volume debate.

I find the sound of my HT20 is actually quite nice at lower volumes, no shortage of tone compliments from those in the room with me. Usually master around 9:00 Gain around 11:00 Volume around 12:00 -------------------------- pure sweetness :) but i must confess it sounds better with my extension cab...

Re: Help me decide, pls

I too have HT20 combo and I built a 1x12 extension cabinet to go with it, I also use an EQ in the FXloop (danalectro fishnchips) which seems to add a nice layer of volume control. For smaller gigs (halls/pubs/basements) I would say the HT20 is loud enough. I dont know if its just me but after swappi...

Re: Who swaps power tubes with out biasing?

always a good discussion surrounding this issue, anyway to cite where I got this idea of "self biasing cathode" http://thetubestore.com/blackstar-ht-studio-20.html as you can see they sell a kit of tubes designed for the blackstar amps, beside the HT20 kit they have a link to more info about "Cathod...

Re: Who swaps power tubes with out biasing?

The HT20 comes with EL34 so as long as you stick with the EL34 format the operating range will remain roughly the same and you wont need to re-bias the amp. I have read in several places the HT20 is cathode biased which I guess means"self biasing" but I was unable to find this anywhere "official" li...
