Re: HT1: is it a "hybrid" or a real "all-tube" amp?

My low wattage all tube amps sound incredible with full gain, but has no headroom to play clean. I have to admit that this amp has the headroom to play crystal clean with enough volume. I keep telling myself that this is not all tube, but it sounds too good to not want to play through it. Just swap ...

Re: HT1: is it a "hybrid" or a real "all-tube" amp?

I have a Marshall Artist 4203 that has a solid state pre-amp with one 12ax7 and output tubes. The HT1R is similar with solid state components. I build low wattage tube amps that are handwired point to point. I consider a solid state rectifier in a tube amp to still be all tube. Marshalls use tube re...

HT1R Sounding and Looking Incredible!

posting.jpeg I just bought a like new limited edition HT1R for $190. Sounded good, but I changed the tubes to a pair that I normally use in my low watt tube amp builds. I installed a Tung-Sol 12AX7 pre-amp and a JJ ECC82 output tube. At the same time I replaced the stock Blackbird speaker with a NE...

Re: HT1R Combo Speaker Leads

I found that a tung-sol ecc82/12au7 was not as good as a jj ecc82 in my own low wattage amps. I found that a tung-sol 12ax7 with jj eec82 output tube sounds the best. JJ tubes glow brighter than the tung-sol tubes.

Re: Blackstar HT1R Pot Values/Taper

B10K means it has a linear taper, which would be divided equally. Not sure about a G? Usually A means audio. There are even reverse audio taper potentiometers.

Re: HT-1RH full stack.

I build low wattage tube amps using reverb transformers with 8 ohm output. Since the amp is outputting such a low wattage, it really does not effect the tubes like it does with larger wattage amps. You may notice the volume gets lower with a 16 ohm speaker than with an 8 ohm. I believe these output ...

Re: Replacing the Grill Cloth?

You would need to purchase perforated or expanded metal at a hardware store and cut it with aviation snips. I think it would be easier to tighten up your existing grille and re-staple it.

Re: HT1R Combo Speaker Leads

Could be a bad tube? One of my amp builds had an ecc82 (12AU7) that was not as loud as all the others had been. Swapped it with another tube and volume increased.

Re: 12Bh7 in HT 1

I believe the 12BH7 has the same current draw as an ecc99. Both are pin for pin compatible. You need to make sure that the power transformer can handle the increase in heater current. Current is rated differently depending if a 6.3v or 12v heater supply is used. 12AU7 draws 150ma with heater wired t...
